Polres Asahan’s quick response has once again led to the arrest of nine more suspects, out of ten, in the case of group rape against minors that occurred in two different subdistricts of Asahan Regency. The disclosure of this case was based on information provided by the two victims, three witnesses’ statements, and one suspect’s development from the first arrest. The Asahan Police held a press conference on Saturday, April 29, at around 10:30 AM Wib. In the second press conference, on Thursday, May 4, at around 10:30 AM Wib, Kapolres Asahan, AKBP Rocky Hasuhunan Marpaung, announced that they were able to arrest the nine other suspects from different locations.
According to Kapolres, the ten suspects were detained in connection to the development of a case of group rape against minors that began on Friday, April 14, 2023, at around 10 PM WIB, on a palm oil plantation in Buntu Pane subdistrict, Asahan Regency. The second incident happened on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at a boarding house in Sei Dadap subdistrict at around 2 AM Wib, with the same victim being raped in turns by the ten suspects.
The two victims, TM and AG, are underage students and residents of Asahan Regency who became victims of group rape by ten male suspects in turns. However, two of the suspects were also minors and, therefore, were not present at the press conference.
Kapolres Asahan also provided a brief chronology of the case, stating that one suspect, RK, invited victim AG to drink alcohol. The second suspect, SP alias BR, sent a message to RZ, suggesting they rape the other victim, TM.
“Then BR ordered RZ and FR to buy several bottles of alcohol and bring a mat to the location,” Kapolres continued.
One of the ten suspects, BR, confessed his wrongdoing when questioned by Kapolres Asahan during the press conference.
The suspects are facing a minimum sentence of five years and a maximum sentence of 15 years, with a fine of Rp 5 billion. “These charges were made under Article 81, paragraph 1 and/or Article 81, paragraph 2 of the Indonesian Law number 17 of 2016, which prohibits anyone from threatening or using violence against a child, committing rape against them, or with others,” explained Kapolres.
Representatives of Asahan Regency’s local government, including Edy Sukmana Kadis PPKBPPPA, Suyono (Mas Yon), the Chairman of LPPAI, Awaluddin, Vice Chair of KPAD Asahan, and various media personnel, also attended the press conference.
