Kecamatan Awang has been named the overall champion of the Nansarunai Jajaka Cultural Festival or FBNJ 2023. The event was held in Tamiang Layang, on Sunday evening, May 7, 2023. The district received a permanent and a rotating trophy, a certificate, and funding from Bupati Barito Timur, Ampera AY Mebas. Camat Awang Fernando accepted the award on behalf of the district. The conclusion of the festival was marked by local dance performances, a band, and the award presentation to the other winners. Kecamatan Paju and Kecamatan Paju Epat were awarded second and third place, respectively.
In attendance at the closing ceremony were the Forkopimda, the Head of the Regional Secretariat, Panahan Moetar, OPD Head, and representatives from the private sector. The three-day event featured various cultural activities, including ethnic dance competitions, cultural dances, a fashion parade, and traditional food preparation, Lemang. The festival also hosted various traditional games, and the winners were given the chance to participate in the Provincial-level Iseng Mulang Festival in Palangka Raya from May 22 to 27.
The main goal of the annual Nansarunai Jajaka Cultural Festival is to preserve the customs and heritage of Barito Timur, and it is organized by the Kabupaten Barito Timur’s Office of Culture and Tourism. Bupati Bartim, in his speech, expressed his gratitude towards all those who contributed to the success of the event, which took place from May 5 to May 7, 2023.
“On behalf of the local government and citizens of Barito Timur, I express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to all parties who have assisted in making this event a successful and smooth one,” said Ampera. Moreover, he congratulated all the winners and encouraged those who did not win to learn from their mistakes and work harder next time.
“I congratulate the winners and ask them to use this success as a motivation to achieve more in the future. And to those who did not win, I hope that you will not lose hope and use this experience as a lesson to achieve success in the future,” concluded Bupati.
