MUARADUA, metro7.co.id – Gubernur Sumatera Selatan H Herman Deru, accompanied by the Regent of South OKU, inaugurated the Opening Event of the 23rd Lake Ranau Festival in South OKU Regency in 2023, on Wednesday (21/23).
Regent of South OKU, Popo Ali Martopo, expressed his gratitude for the presence of the Provincial Government, which was attended directly by Governor H Herman Deru, who has always provided support and assistance, enabling South OKU Regency to develop in terms of tourist attractions and infrastructure development.
Regent Popo also thanked all parties who participated in the success of the Lake Ranau Festival, which had been suspended for the past 3 years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The Lake Ranau Festival itself has the potential to promote local culture and introduce the cultural and tourism potential of the region to the wider community, which will ultimately have an impact on the economic recovery and tourism recovery in South OKU Regency,” he said.
Then, the purpose of the FDR Event is to preserve and maintain local culture, prevent it from becoming extinct and disappearing, and increase the activities of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (UMKM) to gradually improve the economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Regent explained that by empowering the community to preserve traditional culture and arts, it is hoped that it can introduce local culture and tourism to the wider community.
“By preserving traditional culture and arts and developing tourist destinations, we can attract the interest of tourists to Lake Ranau,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Governor H Herman Deru appreciated the implementation of the 23rd Lake Ranau Festival, with its various traditional customs and cultural arts being showcased as one way to preserve the heritage and culture left by our ancestors and prevent Western culture from infiltrating.
Therefore, personally and on behalf of the South Sumatra Provincial Government, he expressed his gratitude for the efforts made by the South OKU District Government and the community in preserving cultural traditions through the Lake Ranau Festival.
“Our duty is to preserve the existing customs and culture, and by holding this festival, we have shown that the authenticity of our culture is more attractive than Western culture. Therefore, regional tourism promotion must be continuously improved, and one way is by organizing this festival,” explained Governor Deru.
Then, the 2023 Lake Ranau Festival was officially opened by Governor Herman Deru, and a transfer of funds amounting to 74 billion rupiah from the Governor of South Sumatra to the Local Government of South OKU was conducted.
