Bawaslu Tabalong Urges Political Parties to Maintain Election Neutrality During Labor Day Celebration
TANJUNG, metro7.co.id – In commemoration of International Workers’ Day (May Day), the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of Tabalong Regency issued an appeal to all political parties participating in the election within its scope. The appeal, with reference number S-058/PM.00.02/K.KS-08/04/2023, is aimed at anticipating potential election violations during the labor day celebration.
It is known that thousands of workers affiliated with the DPC FSP-KEP of Tabalong Regency will hold a peaceful demonstration in front of the Tabalong Regency DPRD office on Monday, May 1st, 2023.
“This appeal has been conveyed to the 18 political parties in Tabalong,” said the Coordinator of Prevention Law Enforcement and Public Relations of Bawaslu Tabalong, M. Fahmi Failasopa.
Fahmi stated that his institution urged election participants not to engage in actions that contain elements of election campaigns (offering vision, mission, program, and/or self-image) during the labor day commemoration.
“This includes no actions that contain an invitation to vote or not vote for one of the political parties participating in the election and individuals who have the possibility of running in the 2024 general election during the labor day commemoration,” he said.
Furthermore, he hopes there will be no actions that are prohibited by statutory regulations, including questioning the basis of Pancasila state ideology, the opening of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, and the form of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, engaging in activities that endanger the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, insulting someone’s religion, ethnicity, race, group, or other political parties participating in the election, inciting and divisive actions towards individuals or communities, and disturbing public order.
Fahmi continued that the next point is threatening to use violence or advocating the use of violence against an individual, a group of citizens, or other political parties participating in the election.
“Additionally, not using government facilities, places of worship or education, and not carrying or using party symbols, election campaign symbols, or other symbols related to election campaigns,” he added.
Among other appeals, the Bawaslu Tabalong also asked candidates not to promise or give money or other material items to vote or not vote for one of the political parties participating in the election or individuals who have the possibility of running in the 2024 general election during the labor day commemoration.
“Lastly, other actions that contain elements of election campaigns and may disrupt the community’s conducive atmosphere,” Fahmi concluded. ***
