Bupati Sanggau, Paolus Hadi, accompanied by the Head of BMSDA Sanggau District, John Hendri, recently launched the Kenaman-Lomur road project in Sanggau, which will span 2.6 kilometers with a road width of 4 meters.
During his speech, Bupati Sanggau, Paolus Hadi, revealed that the road restoration project, including the Kenaman-Lomur stretch and several other roads, had been postponed for two years due to Covid-19 concerns in the border areas, particularly in Entikong and Sekayam districts. However, in 2023, the central government has allocated funds for the improvement and development of roads, especially those that run through the border areas, through Sanggau District Administration.
Paolus Hadi reminded vehicle owners and local communities to take good care of the road and avoid exceeding the vehicle tonnage limit to prevent damage, urging officials to control heavy-loaded vehicles passing through the route. If a vehicle going beyond it causes damage, the driver will be punished, as per Mr. Hadi.
The Kenaman-Lomur road project is one of four roadworks funded by the Ministry of Village’s Special Allocation Fund (DAK Kemendes) for the Sanggau District border area in the 2023 fiscal year. The three other packages are the Balai Karangan-Keladang II, Lomur-Raut Muara, and Segumon-Kuyak routes in Sekayam District, which are currently being constructed gradually.
John Hendri, the Head of BMSDA Sanggau District, confirmed that the Kenaman-Lomur road improvement project, which extends to Sekayam District, has begun under the supervision of the Directorate of Civil Engineering and Water Resources Development, with a budget of Rp5.6 billion, spanning 2.6 kilometers and requiring 150 working days.
“The Pemkab Sanggau’s commitment to the border regions as a high-priority area remains intact, as evidenced by the ongoing efforts to upgrade the connecting road system in the local districts and rural communities,” remarks John Hendri.
