ESports Indonesia (ESI) Kabupaten Bangka successfully held the regional championship selection (Kejurda) for 2023 on Sunday (11/6) at Dabelyu Cafe, Sungailiat District. The Chairman of ESI Kabupaten Bangka, Syargi M Budiman, stated that there were five eSport games held, namely Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB), Free Fire (FF), PUBG, eFootball, and Lokapala. However, only four games were conducted due to a lack of participants in one category.
“The selection was held from the 9th to the 11th of June for a period of three days. Alhamdulillah, the Kejurda selection for 2023 went smoothly and successfully,” explained Syargi on Monday (12/6) in Sungailiat. The four eSport games that were selected were MLBB with eight teams, FF with 53 teams, PUBG with 10 teams, and eFootball 2023 with eight participants.
Syargi hopes that in the future, eSport athletes in Kabupaten Bangka can channel their talents positively. Meanwhile, the winners of this selection round will represent Kabupaten Bangka at Kejurda, which will be held in the near future. “Next week we will hold Kejurda. We hope that these winners can represent Kabupaten Bangka up to Porwil Riau later if they qualify again in the Kejurda later. Porwil Riau will be held in October 2023,” he said.
Syargi also hopes that through championships and selections held in the area, quality ESI athletes can emerge and bring good name to the region. “Hopefully, our Bangka eSport athletes can improve their achievements with the number of games that are held,” he said. “Hopefully, our athletes can qualify for Porwil in Riau. This is good for promoting our region,” added Syargi.
Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of ESI Kabupaten Bangka, Adi Nugroho, also said that this prestigious event provides an opportunity for Indonesian eSport athletes, especially those from the area, to showcase their skills and become professional eSport athletes. “We can promote and be proud of our region on a national and international stage. Long live eSports Indonesia,” Aho, Adi Nugroho’s nickname, said optimistically.
