Ketua Umum TP PKK Tri Tito Karnavian, along with the Head of TP PKK in Asahan Regency and entourage, visited the Diverse, Nutritionally Balanced, and Safe Food House in Binjai City, North Sumatra Province, on Tuesday (2/5), as reported by Metro7.co.id. The Mayor of Binjai, Drs H. Amir Hamzah, along with Forkopimda and all the Heads of TP PKK from Regencies/Cities in North Sumatra, were present to welcome the TP PKK Chairman’s arrival.
The Mayor of Binjai welcomed the TP PKK Chairman and entourage, saying that their visit was an honor and pride for the people of Binjai and North Sumatra in general. Meanwhile, the TP PKK Chairman praised the Binjai City Government and TP PKK for creating the Diverse, Nutritionally Balanced, and Safe Food House in the city. The Chairman hopes that all TP PKK in Regencies/Cities in North Sumatra can follow Binjai’s example in reducing the number of stunted children in their respective areas.
After participating in the various activities, the Head of TP PKK in Asahan Regency, Titiek Sugiharti Surya, stated that the Government, along with TP PKK and the Stunting Acceleration Team (TPPS) in Asahan Regency, have implemented several programs, such as promoting the consumption of fish, providing iron supplements for adolescent girls, providing supplementary food for infants and pregnant women, and promoting understanding of reproductive health and stunting for prospective brides and education on parenting for the first 1000 days of a child’s life.
By implementing these programs, the stunting rate in Asahan Regency is expected to decrease to 15.3% by 2022, compared to 18.9% in 2021, based on the results of the Indonesia Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI) in 2022. The Head of TP PKK expressed her readiness to support every government program, especially those that benefit the people of Asahan Regency.
Furthermore, she hopes that the stunting rate in Asahan Regency can continue to be minimized, so that the vision and mission of the Asahan Regency Government can be achieved. The Head of TP PKK in Asahan Regency also urged all residents to protect their children from stunting, which can potentially slow down brain development.
