Pemkab Barito Timur held a joint Easter Celebration for the Local Government, TNI, Polri, DPRD, PKK, Other Women’s Organizations and Churches in the Barito Timur Regency Office yard on Thursday, May 4th, 2023. The Easter Celebration, which was conducted in the Regent’s office yard with Evangelist Hendrik Laverty as the preacher, carried the theme “He Will Go Ahead of You to Galilee, Do Not Be Afraid” and a sub-theme of “Christ Who Has Risen Sends Us to Realize Barito Timur as the Land of Abundant Blessings”. The theme was taken from Matthew 28:7, 10.
During his speech, Regent of Barito Timur, Ampera AY Mebas, said that the Easter celebration was not just a religious celebration, but also a moment to reflect and improve oneself. “We remember the important event in the history of humankind, which is the victory of Jesus Christ over death and sin. This victory teaches us that whatever happens in life, we must always trust and rely on God. We must move forward with courage, face challenges and difficulties with bravery, and always remember that God will always be by our side,” he said.
The regent added that Christ, who has risen, had set an example of a meaningful life filled with love. He taught us to love one another, help each other, and work hard together to achieve our dreams. “Therefore, in this precious moment, let us send each other to realize Barito Timur as the Land of Abundant Blessings,” he added.
Ampera invited all residents to always strive together to build Barito Timur. According to him, no group can work alone in achieving the great goal of building Barito Timur. “We must collaborate, respect differences, and unite in realizing our dreams,” he continued.
The regent hoped that the spirit of togetherness and solidarity in Barito Timur could be continuously increased, especially in advancing the region. On that occasion, the regent also invited all layers of society to always maintain order, security and a sense of brotherhood, especially when entering the political year.
He also said that Barito Timur is an area with great potential for development and progress. Therefore, he invited everyone to build and develop the region in a better way, through strong cooperation and commitment from all parties to face various challenges and changes that occur.
As part of the Easter Celebration this year, the organizers also held a social service in the form of blood donation and the distribution of basic necessities packages to people in need from various denominations of churches. ***
