Badan Kependudukan dan Keluarga Berencana Nasional (BKKBN), along with its partners including the district government of Labuhanbatu, participated in the Rembuk Stunting event for the North Sumatra Province, held at the Hotel Santika Dyandra in Medan on May 29th, 2023. This event was held in order to evaluate the progress made in accelerating the reduction of stunting rates through collaboration and synergy among the stunting reduction team. It also included the development and implementation of policies beginning at the national, provincial, and district/city levels throughout North Sumatra.
Musa Rajekshah, S.Sos. M.Hum, the Chairman of the North Sumatra Stunting Reduction Team, stated that it is crucial for cooperation among all stakeholders, including the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) and all organizations involved, to succeed in accelerating the reduction of stunting rates in districts/cities throughout North Sumatra. He hopes that with their concerted efforts, the stunting rate in North Sumatra will significantly decrease in 2023, particularly in the districts/cities with rates above 20%.
Meanwhile, Dr. (H.C) dr. Hasto Wardoyo, Sp.O.G, the Head of the BKKBN in Indonesia, expressed through a Zoom call that many districts/cities in North Sumatra have stunting rates below 20%. He emphasized that these areas require serious attention and effort to ensure that stunting rates decrease below 20% in 2023. He hopes that under the leadership of Musa Rajekshah, the stunting reduction efforts in North Sumatra will increase, particularly in the areas with high stunting rates.
Muhammad Irzal, SE. ME, the Head of the BKKBN Representative Office in North Sumatra, explained that the stunting reduction team has been working hard to decrease stunting rates in all districts/cities throughout North Sumatra. He hopes that TPPS (the stunting reduction team at the sub-district, village, and community levels) in all districts/cities throughout North Sumatra can work effectively by developing work plans and accelerating stunting reduction efforts.
It is worth noting that the Labuhanbatu District Government won first place in the stunting reduction convergence competition for the district/city performance evaluation category in 2022. The award was presented by the Governor of North Sumatra, Edy Rahmayadi, at the Santika Dyandra Hotel in Medan on April 12th, 2023. The event was also attended by Hobbol Z Rangkuti, the Head of the Labuhanbatu Regional Development Planning Agency, Abdi Jaya Pohan, the Head of the Community Empowerment and Village Development Agency, Hj. Mahrani, SKM, the Head of the Women’s Empowerment and Family Planning Agency, Dr. Marylin, the Secretary General of the Health Agency, and Ahmad Fadly Rangkuti, ST. M.Kom, the Acting Head of the Communication and Informatics Agency of Labuhanbatu.
