Istana Anak Yatim Darul Azhar in Batulicin was abuzz with activity on Sunday (May 21, 2023). Several cars were parked in front of the Darul Azhar Mosque, which is located opposite the residence of Tanah Bumbu Regent, Abah dr. H. M. Zairullah Azhar, and the orphans. To their surprise, two senior singers from the 70s era visited them that evening. They arrived at the Regent’s residence at around 4.00 pm local time and were welcomed by Abah Zairullah, Wahyudi Windarti Zairullah, and Secretary (Sekda) Ambo Sakka.
After a brief chat with Abah Zairullah, Muchsin Alatas and his wife visited the Istana Anak Yatim’s pendopo, where hundreds of orphans were already waiting for them. Muchsin Alatas was then asked by Abah Zairullah to enlighten the children. Muchsin told the orphans that he was the descendant of a Habib (a title given to a male descendant of the Prophet Muhammad), and singing was not his goal or ambition. “All of this is due to Allah’s regulations,” he said.
The orphans were encouraged not to feel inferior about their future prospects. Muchsin, himself, became an orphan when he was in the sixth grade of elementary school. As a child, Muchsin stressed the importance of obeying parents, regardless of who they are.
On this occasion, Muchsin expressed his admiration for Abah Zairullah, who selflessly mentors thousands of orphans in Indonesia, especially in Tanah Bumbu. “Moreover, he is currently the President of Indonesian Orphanages (LKSA-PSAA),” he said.
