SANGGAU, metro7.co.id – Polres Sanggau held a press release to disclose a case of motorcycle theft that occurred within the jurisdiction of Polres Sanggau.
The press release featured 13 motorcycles of various types as evidence and presented four perpetrators, namely, with the initials JU, LI, RA, and VI. These four individuals had different roles in carrying out the motorcycle thefts.
In addition to the disclosure of motorcycle theft cases, Polres Sanggau also presented one suspect involved in a four-wheeled vehicle theft, along with evidence of a car, which involved a Pontianak resident identified by the initials YU.
The press release was led by the Chief of Police of Sanggau, AKBP Suparno Agus Candra Kusumah, accompanied by the Deputy Chief of Police, Kompol Novrial Alberti Kombo, and the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Sulastri, at the Sanggau Police Headquarters on Wednesday afternoon (June 28th).
Chief of Police AKBP Suparno Agus Candra Kusumah stated that Polres Sanggau had managed to secure 13 motorcycles of various types from the four motorcycle theft perpetrators within their jurisdiction.
“The motorcycle thefts occurred from 2022 to 2023 in Tayan Hilir, Toba, Mukok, and Kapuas sub-districts,” explained the Chief of Police.
He also urged individuals who had lost their motorcycles to visit the Sanggau Police Headquarters to check if their motorcycles were among the 13 motorcycles that had been confiscated from the four perpetrators.
“The perpetrators still use the old method of breaking the motorbike key, then starting the motorbike using a letter T key. After successfully stealing the motorbike, the perpetrators remove the frame number and engine number using a grinding tool,” said AKBP Suparno.
According to the Chief of Police, the 13 stolen motorcycles were found in different locations.
“Yes, some of the motorcycles were seized at the perpetrators’ residences, while others were found elsewhere,” explained the Chief of Police.
The Chief of Police advised the public to always be vigilant about their vehicles. He hoped that vehicle owners could add extra security measures to their vehicles to prevent motorcycle theft within their jurisdiction.
The four perpetrators involved in the motorcycle thefts will be charged under articles 363 paragraph 1 clauses 4 and 5, as well as articles 480 paragraph 1 and 2 of the Indonesian Criminal Code, with a maximum prison sentence of 7 years.
Meanwhile, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Sulastri, stated that the car theft case carried out by the suspect with the initials YU involved a new method.
According to AKP Sulastri, the police confiscated one white Toyota Calya car with the license plate number KB 1874 WZ from the suspect YU.
“Yes, the suspect YU used a car exchange method with the victim. After successfully exchanging the vehicle, the suspect would secretly take back the victim’s vehicle by using a spare key, and then drive away with it. YU will be charged under article 363 paragraph (1) clauses 4 and 5 of the Indonesian Criminal Code,” she concluded.
