SEKADAU, metro7.co.id – A man named PA in Sekadau Regency, West Kalimantan, was arrested by the police for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl until she became pregnant. The perpetrator was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Unit of Sekadau Police in Belitang Hilir District on Monday night (June 19th).
Sekadau Police Chief, AKBP Suyono, through the Head of Criminal Investigation, Iptu Rahmad Kartono, said that the perpetrator first assaulted the victim in November 2022. At that time, the perpetrator invited the victim to meet at a cafe in Terminal Lawang Kuari.
“Then the perpetrator invited the victim to accompany him to stay at a guesthouse in Sekadau Regency. In the guesthouse, the perpetrator sexually assaulted the victim and promised to take responsibility if anything happened,” said Iptu Rahmad on Tuesday (June 20th).
During the assault, the perpetrator forcibly undressed the victim and restrained her, making her unable to resist. Rahmad revealed that, according to the investigation, the perpetrator and the victim engaged in sexual intercourse five times.
“The perpetrator also gave the victim Rp 300,000. The money was given by the perpetrator after the first sexual assault. For the second to fifth time, the perpetrator also gave money under the pretext of pocket money,” he explained.
As a result of the perpetrator’s actions, the victim became pregnant and is currently in her seventh month of pregnancy. Kasat Reskrim Iptu Rahmad stated that in February 2023, the victim contacted the perpetrator and informed him that she was pregnant.
At that time, the victim asked the perpetrator to take responsibility. The perpetrator promised to take responsibility and marry the victim. However, the promise was never fulfilled.
“After that, the perpetrator never met the victim, but instead blocked the victim’s phone number and avoided her,” said Iptu Rahmad.
The case was reported to the police after the victim’s parents took her for a prenatal check-up with a midwife. The victim’s parents also asked their child who had impregnated her.
“The victim answered with the perpetrator’s name. Due to this incident, the victim’s parents reported it to Sekadau Police. Currently, the perpetrator has been apprehended at Sekadau Police Station for further processing,” he added.
In response to this case, Kasat Reskrim of Sekadau Police, Iptu Rahmad, urged children not to be deceived and manipulated. He also asked parents to better supervise their children’s social interactions.
“Cases like this should be a concern for all of us. Therefore, we invite all stakeholders to support each other and work together to prevent such cases by providing education to the community. We also urge parents to better supervise their children’s social interactions,” he concluded.
